The Pressure of Kids Birthdays

.

Hi Reader,

Today is my twins' 7th birthday!

We celebrated them this weekend with a birthday party and are celebrating their actual birthday today after school.

While I know I should be all happy for them, and I am overall, I also find myself feeling so much pressure to make everything perfect all day for them and ignore the lingering birth trauma that I relive for up to a week before, after, and during their birthday.

Regardless of how I feel, because I know this isn't about me, it's about them, I'm putting on a happy face and celebrating them.

Do you feel pressure to make everything perfect for your kids' birthdays too?

Do you also struggle with birth trauma years later?

Hit reply, I'd love to hear from you.

My birth trauma started with my oldest and got much worse with my twins since all 3 of us nearly died. I have been in therapy and on medication to try and 'fix' or 'lessen' the birth trauma but I have to say, it's still with me. I'm not sure when it'll subside.

I don't say this to be a downer, and I realize some may unsubscribe since I've got a partially sad email here, but I pride myself in being truthful and telling it The Way it Really Is, which isn't all puppies and rainbows, you know?

Big hugs to you all if you also have birth trauma that follows you year to year.

How to Talk so Little Kids Will Listen Book Review

. Hi Reader, Have your kids been moodier than usual lately? Or is it just mine? With the changing of seasons, end of summer, and back to school-ness of it all, we're having a tough time over here with some behaviors. I'm the first to admit that even as a former school psychologist, I'm at a loss with my kids sometimes. Constant fighting between them, they're blowing up over basically nothing, etc. is a common occurrence, especially with one of my kids, and it's affecting our whole family of...

Crafts for Preschoolers and Kids 5+

. Hi Reader, How is your week starting out so far? For us, it's the last week before school starts, so we're soaking up the free time. However, I also started getting a few hours for my very part-time psychometrist job so I've been busy with that. By very part time, I mean that I hadn't heard from my boss for almost 3 months before getting two new clients this week. Also, over the past 9 months of working, I've worked a TOTAL of 55 hours. So VERY part time. For us though, it works for now....
