This week's email is a PSA about a popular toothpaste that I recently happened to find out has lead in it. It is the kids' toothpaste that my kids have used their entire lives. 😡

I'm devastated and angry, to say the least.

The toothpaste I'm specifically talking about is Tom's of Maine Kids' Natural Fluoride-Free toothpaste (the fluoride version has lead too...). Turns out, ALL Tom's of Maine toothpastes have dangerous amounts of lead in them. (Many others do too...look at her site linked below).

These toothpastes having dangerous amounts of lead in toothpaste has been going on for years.

I honestly do not understand how there hasn't been a recall. I happened to find out by watching a random reel on Facebook, which I typically don't do, and then doing a research deep dive.

This is a disaster. I feel like a failure of a mom, though I did all the research years ago that said THIS toothpaste was the best for my kids.

As I shared the news with my kids and shared how I felt like I failed them, my 10-year-old hugged me and said, "No, you didn't fail us, Mom, the company did." He's exactly right and I so appreciate his wisdom.

There are two lawsuits against Tom's of Maine right now, including one for the lead. This is a big deal.

Now, I'll be honest, the website Lead Safe Mama, darn near everything has some lead in it, but this is an extreme amount of lead.

Below, I'll share the links for where to get more information, as I'm not the one who did the testing or broke the story; I'm just a devastated parent who feels I should warn anyone I can about this.

What we're doing now:

1. We stopped using the Tom's of Maine toothpastes. Even threw out the 3 new tubes we had since we buy in bulk.
2. Threw away our toothbrushes and got new ones.
3. Kids and I started using a toothpaste Lead Safe Mama recommended, Spry Natural Xylitol Toothpaste for Baby, Toddler, and Kids: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LSVJGK?th=1 (NOT an affiliate link, I'm not trying to make anything off of this horrible news)
4. Contacted our doctors to get tested for lead in case we have lead poisoning, so we can do something about it. All 3 kids were nervous about the blood tests but did great. Still awaiting results.
