MORE Halloween Activities for Kids

.

Hi Reader,

I hope you're doing well.

Last week I shared some Halloween Activities for kids, and then my husband came up with more over the weekend, so I thought I'd share. I'll still link the post from last week, in case you missed it, but I'll also include what he thought of below:

We were going to go to a couple of trunk-or-treat events, but it was raining, so the kids didn't want to go out. Which we were totally fine with. Instead, he came up with the following activities, which may be helpful if your events get rained out as well!

Note: our boys are really competitive, so we made sure each kid got an equal amount of candy no matter who won or lost. After each activity below, they each got a piece of candy or non-candy treat.

  • Guess how many candies without touching the jar. These included:
    • Smarties in a Mason jar
    • Fun-size packages of gummy candy still in the package; guess how many inside a 2-cup container
    • Candy corn pieces in a 2-cup container
  • Themed Trunk or Treat stations
    • Twister: Have kids play Twister; everyone gets a prize no matter if they win or lose.
    • Candy Land: Play the game, and whenever a child lands on a candy piece, they get candy from me, Nicole, who was dressed up as a princess (that part not required).
    • Math Questions: Each child was asked 2 math questions and got candy after they answered each one correctly.
    • Riddles: Answer a riddle to get a treat (or at least try)
      • What room will you never find in a haunted house? Answer: The living room
      • Why are graveyards so noisy? Answer: Because of all the coffin (coughing)
      • What has a body, arms, legs, and a head but is heartless and has no guts? Answer: a skeleton
      • Everyone has one of me, and I'm impossible to lose. What am I? Answer: A shadow
      • What kind of dog does Dracula have? Answer: a bloodhound
    • Answer questions about what candy parents like. For example, my husband doesn't like chocolate, so we asked the kids what type of candy Dad doesn't like. They all got it right. Then I asked about specific candy that has 'too much' chocolate, according to him. lol

I added these new ideas to the post below, but since you possibly read it last week, I didn't want to make you go through the whole post again. However, if you'd like to, it's below :)

Prefer to shop on Etsy since you already have an account there? You can still use Newsletter20 for an extra 20% off everything in my shop!

I'm also on Teachers Pay Teachers! Unfortunately, they don't have universal coupon codes (yet!), and only allow things related to teaching, but a LOT of my products are over there if you'd prefer to shop on TPT.

Fun Halloween Activities for Children

. Hi Reader, I hope you're doing well. 'The Way it Really Is' is officially AD-FREE!! I noticed there was a malicious ad that kept popping up, was unable to be closed, and took people to a bad site. Frustrated, I removed ads before the 30-day notice I was supposed to give. Things got a bit dicey with the ad company, but I'm glad to be rid of ads. I have to say, it looks so much better and is easier to read!! With Halloween fast approaching, below I'll share a blog post with fun Halloween...

Halloween Costumes and Decor on a Budget

. Hi Reader, I hope you're doing well. I'm excited, though a little nervous; I just emailed Journey, who runs the ads on my blog, officially breaking up with them. I've gone from making $60 a month to $20 a month, and it's just not worth it to have ads on my site; it's not a good user experience for you, my readers! It'll be another 30 days until I can remove the ad code from my site, but I'm excited that soon, they'll be gone! I'm a little nervous because, though the income was rather small,...
