Parenting Encouragement: Presence over Perfection

.

Hi Reader,

As we head into the busy holiday season, I want to share with you some encouragement regarding parenting and that your presence is more important than perfection.

In our quest to be the “perfect” parent, many of us put immense pressure on ourselves.

We might spend hours crafting Pinterest-worthy activities or obsess over every parenting book or Facebook group, trying to find all the answers and parent in a way that we think or kids need.

Unfortunately, this often leads to burnout and feelings of inadequacy.

I know it has for me. 🙋‍♀️

Then you're left with exhaustion, stress, and moments of frustration that overshadow any special time you were trying to have with your kids.

It’s easy to forget that parenting isn’t about perfection but connection.

Your kids won't remember all the Pinterest-perfect crafts you made with them but they will remember the time you spent with them whether it's playing a board game, coloring, or playing sports in the backyard.

This mindset shift is crucial: instead of aiming for perfection, focus on being present. Embrace the idea that it’s okay to be imperfect and that authenticity is what truly strengthens our bonds with our children.

This approach works because by prioritizing genuine experiences over flawless ones, you allow yourself the grace to enjoy the little moments, creating a happier environment for both you and your kids.

And it's a heck of a lot less stressful!!

Start small: set aside dedicated time each week to sit with your children, without a screen, and play a game or check out something they want to show you.

I know it's hard to do, I struggle with it too as I always feel I have to be checking my email, seeing what's going on in the world, blah blah blah but just sitting down and connecting, even just for a little bit, will go a long way.

If you embrace this new mindset, you’ll find more ease in parenting and create deeper connections with your children, all while not stressing yourself out.

I'll be here on this imperfect journey with you!

. Hi Reader, I can't believe Christmas is just a week away. I realize not everyone celebrates Christmas but no matter what you do or don't celebrate, you may resonate with this email. To be honest, I'm having a hard time getting into the spirit this year due to a lot of things going on. One of the downers is it's the first Christmas without my mom at my parent's house. As many of you know, she was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease 6 years ago when she was just 59 (also happened...

Gift Ideas for Kids, Parents, and More!

. Hi Reader, I hope you're having a great week so far! Today I want to share a sustainable way to wrap presents that I started doing this year and some gift ideas in case you need them. Sustainable (and FREE) Wrapping Paper It may be bland but at least for some presents I've started to wrap them in the packaging paper that comes in all the delivery boxes we get this time of year. It's free and it's actually recyclable unlike a lot of wrapping paper! You can color on it to jazz it up, add...
