Fall Decluttering of Kids' Toys

.

Hi Reader,

We've all heard of Spring cleaning but what about Fall decluttering?

I'm honestly not sure if it's a 'thing' but it's something we tend to do.

Here in MN, along with many other places, the Fall is the start of spending more time inside and though it's not cold here yet, we started thinking ahead that getting rid of some of the toys the kids don't play with anymore would be a good idea.

With this in mind, we worked on the toys in our living room last Saturday. We got all three kids to agree to selling 50+ toys that they no longer use.

Then I got to work taking photos and listing them on Facebook marketplace. To my surprise, we sold almost half of the items in the first 24 hours! I was glad that my hard work paid off so early because it was a LOT of work!

I'm hoping more will go this week and that we can work on the family room next!

How do we get the kids on board?

By letting THEM keep the money!

We realized this last fall when they wanted a ping pong table. We told them we could get it BUT we had to make room for it AND raise money for it...both of which could be done by selling toys they no longer use.

Surprisingly, these kids who typically hate getting rid of toys, were elated!!

I wrote a blog post all about it, as well as a step-by-step guide, and free printable to track your progress.
